EASY: How to use iPad, iPhone, iPod to download torrents on your desktop using uTorrent and without Jailbreaking!

We’ve already learned about Dropbox and what it can do, now learn how to add torrents to your download queue when you’re not at your computer! – Useful if you’re out and someone recommends a title.  Learn how to add it straight away, and it’ll be there waiting for you when you get back home!

You need Dropbox on your desktop and your iOS device. (If you use my referral link: http://db.tt/rDR0g0e we’ll both get an extra 500mb, so if you decide to sign up, please use this think – thanks) :-)

Stage 1

• Create a new folder called “Torrents” inside your Dropbox folder
• In uTorrent, click: Options > Preferences > Directories
• Check the box labelled “automatically load .torrents from:” and choose your newly created “Torrent” folder

Stage 2

• Browse a torrent site on your iPad, iPhone or iPod and click to download the torrent normally.
• Choose “Open in Dropbox”
• Navigate to your newly created “Torrents” folder
• Select “upload”

Dropbox  uploads the torrent from your iOS device, syncs it to the cloud then pushes it to your PC inside the folder that uTorrent is looking at.  uTorrent sees it and starts downloading, genius!  It even works if your computer is switched off, it’ll start next time you open uTorrent.

Wait, you’ve got 2 computers, and you want to be able to choose? Simply make two additional folders in your newly created “Torrent” folder, then direct uTorrent on each machine to a different folder, then when your on iOS, choose the folder which represents the destination PC .  (It won’t be long before you realise you can start torrents on your friends PC’s (with their permission and a bit of savvy of course ;-)
